(18 June) The Battle of Haldighati was fought between the forces of Maharana Pratap of Mewar and the Mughals. The Maharana Pratap was defeated by the Mughal forces led by Akbar's trusted general Man Singh.

(18 June) Ali ibn Abu Talib was elected as the fourth Rashidun Caliph of the Islamic community. Uthman was assassinated on June 17; therefore the very next day on June 18, the Muslims gathered in Masjid al-Nabawi in order to elect Ali as the new caliph.
