(1 March) The Mongol forces under the command of Kitbuga captured the Ayyubid city of Damascus. The last Ayyubid Emir of Aleppo and Damascus, An-Nasir Yusuf was captured and later executed by the Mongols. Kitbuga was the lieutenant of Hulagu Khan. He assisted Hulagu in his campaigns in the Middle East.
