(11 July) A genocide of the Bosnian Muslims began in and around the town of Srebrenica (in Bosnia and Herzegovina) during the Bosnian War. The ethnic cleansing of the Bosnian Muslims began when Commander Ratko Mladić (known as ‘Butcher of Bosnia’) occupied the town of Srebrenica and butchered thousands of people, including children. More than 8,000 Bosnian Muslims were slaughtered in 10-11 days.
