Noted Persian astronomer, mathematician and poet, Omar Khayyam, died in Nishapur (now in Iran). Omar Khayyam was an outstanding mathematician and astronomer who wrote several works including Problems of Arithmetic, a book on music and one on algebra before he was 25.
