5 December 1755	Events	(5 December) The 25th Ottoman Sultan Osman III (r. 1754-1757) opened the Nuruosmaniye Mosque in Istanbul. The mosque was built in the Ottoman Baroque style. It was commissioned by Sultan Mahmud I in 1749. However, after his sudden death, his brother Osman III would take on the task of completing it.
5 December 1955	Deaths	(5 December) Famous Indian Urdu poet Asrar ul Haq Majaz died in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Commonly known as Majaz Lakhnawi, he is considered one of the most famous progressive poets known for romantic and revolutionary poetry.
