(2 November) The Seljuq Sultan of Rum Kaykaus I began the Siege of Sinope, then held by the Empire of Trebizond (now in Turkey). The Emperor of Trebizond could not defend the city. Therefore, the city of Sinope fell to the Seljuks (Seljuqs).
