11 March 1748	Battles & Sieges	(11 March) The Mughal armies under the command of Prince Ahmad Shah defeated the forces of Ahmed Shah Durrani at Manupur, in the northwest of Sirhind, Punjab. Thus, the first Indian invasion of Ahmad Shah Abdali proved to be a failure. Mughal Vizier Qamar al-Din Khan was killed in the battle.
11 March 1917	Battles & Sieges	(11 March) The British troops occupied the city of Baghdad during the Mesopotamian campaign of World War I. The Ottomans had to evacuate the city on the night of 10th March to avoid encirclement.
